ILLUSTRATIVE PAINTING
Drawing was always a fundamental tool for me with any of my creative outlets as I tend to plan & plot before I execute. Before college though, I associated drawing with sketching, unfinished work. My drawing classes in college gave me knowledge of much more, & I was excited for the many options at hand. I really fell in love with ink, & the ways to approach it. Also passionate for woodblock printing & engraving, I began to create a style that used both drawing techniques & in some work gave off techniques of printmaking. I began to explore with watercolors, which overtime have become a staple for my creations.
Awakening
When I first moved back to Seattle in 2013, I began to really feel alive again, & felt the need to pick up a brush after quite a lull. My enthusiasm for being back in the Puget Sound, in a new environment gave me a push to explore a part of myself I had neglected.

ENIGMA
This series of paintings, began from extremely high volumes of happiness, moving through the feelings of extremely high volumes of Sadness & all the feelings in between- the rollercoaster. In this series I began really exploring, putting my feelings on paper, painting the emotions, living with the exuberance & the pain, trying to understand it, make it more concrete. These paintings are all associated with deep emotions & thoughts, some good & some bad. Some paintings brought on tears, others feelings of pure joy. The exact reason I was painting them, the Enigma of life, unfinished, unknown. (Series is still in progress)
"The Paradox" 2016
Graphite, Gouache, Watercolor, Ink, Colored Pencil. 8.5"x11"
FISH
Growing up in the Puget Sound, I always found fish fascinating & delicious. I didn't imagine they would have become such an inspiration to me though. The Summer of 2015 I experienced Alaska & the Sockeye Salmon Fishery. I fell in love with the place & the fishery. Shortly after I got a job with another fishing company, based around Groundfish. Another beast, I am constantly fascinated by the fish & what the Commercial Fisheries are about. Painting them is just another way to study them, to respect them.
"Welcome to the Party" 2015

"Redd of Desire" 2017

SPIRIT ANIMALS
In 2013 I joined an amazing team of people in a Cafe, everyone was always asked, " What is your spirit animal?". I found the question fascinating & began to ask my friends. Immediately I was painting, drawing in my head these whimsical loving "cards" for friends. This series is one of the most enjoyable to have painted & to paint as they are all created out of pure love, happiness. Light-hearted.
